Eco-Christmas Blog Hop 2012

Hello friends!

I hope you are having a great day today. Welcome to the second stop along the Eco-Christmas Blog Hop. You've come over from Danielle's Blog.

Today, I want to share with you some inspiration to help make your Christmas a little more eco-friendly.

One of my favorite gifts to hand out and keep on hand are the ever-popular mason jar gifts. I love these because they can be mass produced and produce little waste. They can also be decorated easily with items that you have on hand like scrap fabric, cupcake liners, or even the wrapping paper that you currently have. The gift recipient can re-use (or recycle) the jar after consuming what's inside. I have made them with our family chocolate chip cookie recipe in year's past. This year, I am making ones filled with a hot chocolate powder combination and attaching a small bag of marshmallows and decorating them with left over Christmas fabric from a quilt that I am making.

Here are a few pieces of inspiration to make your own mason jar gift:

This is my inspiration for this year. Sweet and simple. She used some of her wrapping paper.

I would love to make some of these filled with cookies decorated by my boys and give to the grandmas and aunts at our annual Christmas brunch.

Even the super simple can be pretty.

Love this one with the dry ingredient for bars.

This is one of my favorite ideas. If you have a group of crafty friends, you could easily fill this up with spare items from you stash. It makes a beautiful gift. And they can keep the jar for storage in their own craft space.

I hope that I have inspired you just a little bit with these economical and consumer friendly gift ideas. I really hope that your holiday season is merry and bright!!

  2. There are so many great things to do with mason jars! I picked up the book "Gifts in a Jar" from a used book store earlier this year - there are tons of recipes, but no photos - your post reminds me to check Pinterest more often! Thanks for joining in the blog hop!
